Why I Hate Baz Luhrmann (not me, Tug Dumbly)

November 21st 2008 03:53
GENERAL RAMBLINGS

With Aussie Baz Luhrmann finally releasing the self-proclaimed Aussie version of Gone With The Wind, Australia, I thought it timely to post this lovely little Baz tribute by Aussie comedic poet Tug Dumbly.

I first heard it on Aussie radio Triple J after the last Baz Lurmann-Nicole Kidman Aussie collaboration, Moulin Rouge, earlier this Aussie decade.

Apologies in advance to those Aussies, and those non-Aussies who do like him, but please feel free to leave your Aussie thoughts on the space below.

And just a word of warning, there is strong Aussie language from the passionate Aussie Mr Dumbly.

Enjoy ... or not.

Very very funny!
But I must disagree about Romeo and Juliet. I loved it. I am going to go and see 'Australia' only because people are now talking about it and I wonder if it could possibly be as pretentious as it looks.

Baz reached his limit when he made Strictly Ballroom -- but ever since then its been a downhill slide. Moulin Rouge & Australia are painfully cheesy - should be a crime against linking our wonderful country with such a crap movie - Moulin Rouge and Australia- cringe factor is 12 (out of 10)
Its a modern day "Emperor's new clothes" - he has the likes of Kidman and Jackman thinking he can walk on water - but in reality these movies have done great damage to both their careers.
