The 6 Best Movie Characters Straight From Hell

September 6th 2008 14:52
ANOTHER LIST

With the second Hellboy movie out, it was time I guess (if it hasn’t been done before, that is). Careful, there may be some spoilers below. Feel free to offer up your own.

satan south park
6. Satan from Southpark:
Bigger, Louder and Uncut (1999)
Voiced by Trey Paker.

Plot: The Devil plans to take over the world with then Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, side-by-side, hand-in-hand … hand-in-hand! Yep, two of the most evil bastards ever are in a gay relationship. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Of course, coming from 'different worlds', the couple have their share of problems.

Best line: Satan: “How come you always want to make love to me from behind? Is it because you want to pretend I'm somebody else?”
Saddam: Satan, your ass is gigantic and red.
Who am I going to pretend you are, Liza Minelli?

al pacino in the devils advocate
5. John Milton from
The Devil’s Advocate (1997)
Played by Al Pacino.

Plot: Milton is the head of a big New York City law firm, and doubles as the Prince of Darkness. He recruits his hot shot lawyer son (Keanu Reeves) (who doesn’t actually have a clue he’s the son of the devil - then again, Reeves doesn't have a clue about much), in the hope of joining forces to rule the world.

Best line: Milton: "I've nurtured every sensation man's been inspired to have. I cared about what he wanted and I never judged him. Why?
Because I never rejected him. In spite of all his
imperfections, I'm a fan of man! I'm a humanist.
Maybe the last humanist.”

4. Damien from The Omen (1976)
Played by Harvey Stephens.

Plot: Talk about a kid from hell. Little Damien is the anti-christ, the son of the devil. Damien's first nanny hangs herself and the family priest is speared to death in a freak accident. He can only be killed with the seven daggers of Meggado. Maybe they should’ve tried smothering him with love. Co-starring a bunch of angry baboons who attack the car of Damien's mother.

Best line: First nanny: "Look at me, Damien! It's all for you.’’ (Then jumps off a roof, hanging herself)

3. Lord of Darkness from Legend (1986)
Played by Tim Curry

Plot: There were two really scary performances here. One unintentional from a young Tom Cruise as some freak man-child with a sword and the other intentional by Curry as the demon Lord of Darkness who wants to create eternal night by killing the last unicorn. Better known as one of Cruise’s earlier flops, but the work to create the big horned one so effectively was worth it. At least, he was pretty scary when you’re 10-years-old.

Best line: The Lord of Darkness: “I require the solace of the shadows and the dark of the night.
Sunshine is my destroyer.”

Liz Hurley Bedazzled
2.The Devil from Bedazzled (2001)
Played by Liz Hurley.

Plot: The devil buys the soul of a nerd (Brendan Fraser) in exchange for seven wishes for a new life. Moralistic garb about being happy with who you are, blah blah, but has a pretty fine looking Prince(ss) of Darkness. Better than Peter Cook in the same role in the 1967 original, anyway, with all due respect.

Best line: Elliot Richards (Fraser):
“Is that all you ever think about?
Do you think everything is about sex?
The Devil: “No, of course not! I mean,
there's greed, gluttony, sloth, anger, vanity, envy...”

1.Hellboy from Hellboy (2004)
Played by Ron Perlman.

Plot: Sucked from hell when he was still in his nappies, this demon has grown up on Earth, and developed a penchant for cigars … and pyro-telekinetic women. Loves cats. Hates horns, which is why he files his down. Also does well fighting against the forces of evil … of which, even though he is from hell, he is not.

Best line: Hellboy: (Looking at what the creature Sammael is eating) “What you having? Six library guards, raw, plus belts and boots.
Man, you're gonna need some heavy fiber
to move that out.”
