Studio waits on Green light from Gosling

MOVIE NEWS
Those superhero movie rumours just keep coming out of Hollywood. This time it centres around DC Comics and studio partner Warner Brothers.
With the much-touted Justice League seemingly put out of commission - thankfully - it's all systems go on The Green Lantern.
latinorewview.com is reporting it's heard word from Warner Brothers itself that it is aiming for an early 2009 shoot and 2010 release.
And that rising star Ryan Gosling is being pursued to play the main role.
The website described the actor, who was nominated for an Academy Award last year for his work on Half Nelson, as "dope", which I'm pretty sure means good.
They also mentioned that Gosling was also the right age to play the original Green Lanterm, Hal Jordan, a 27-year-old pilot who is given a ring that grants him superpowers.
Gosling is a good actor. I liked him in Lars and the Real Girl (2008) and The Believer (2001) - check those two out if you haven't already.
He has shown he can tough it out with the best, particularly in The Believer, playing a Jewish KKK member.
He could certainly pull off a relatively serious, yet adventurous take on the popular superhero.
I still think someone like Josh Duhamal, though a little older at 36, would be better suited.
Then again, who really cares...?
The makers could really go nuts with this particular film regardless, as the Green Lantern is kinda like Superman meets Jim Carrey's The Mask, and the landscape isn't confined to just Earth.
This will be the first time the Green Lantern has been seen on the big screen, although a mock poster for the film appeared in I Am Legend, set in the very near future.
