Captain America just needs an actor to play him

MOVIE NEWS
Captain America's entry into the blockbuster realm is gathering momentum. The superhero just needs the right actor to play him.
Marvel Studios has set May 6, 2011 in stone as a release date for the rather oddly titled The First Avenger: Captain America.
The name relates to the follow-up film The Avengers, to be released just two months later, and featuring not only Cap, but also Ironman, Hulk and Thor, who is to also get his own movie.
While no director has been signed as yet, a number of fanboy websites, including movieweb.com, are claiming a synopsis of the film has been revealed.
Set in the 1940s, it is said to follow the basic origin story of Steve Rogers, a skinny army reject who volunteers to be pumped full of an experimental super-soldier serum, and becomes Captain America and fights Nazis
Not a huge fan of the Cap personally, but, in this day and age of Dark Knights, I will be interested to see how this one pans out.
Everything about Captain America screams patriotism of a bygone era. I believe the comic has not fared well in recent years and wonder just how a big screen movie version would be received, especially in markets other than the US.
The low-budget, extremely tacky 1990 version tried to tap into Tim Burton's Batman market, but failed dismally.
Marvel would certainly be determined not to undue the good work done by Robert Downey Jnr's Ironman - and find a bankable, charasmatic actor to play the title role.
Leonardo Di Caprio's name has certainly been thrown around as No.1 choice. It would have to be Blood Diamond/Departed Leo though.
Better still, why not get Christian Bale, he's in everything else. He could play the skinny Steve Rogers ala Machinist, and Captain America ala American Psycho.
