It may not be another Dark Knight installment, but I'm very excited about director Christopher Nolan's next project.
The rumour is it will be a film he has already written the screenplay for, Inception.
It is being reported that the story is "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind".
As a lover of intelligent science-fiction films, it is great news that Nolan, who hasn't really dabbled in the genre before, is tackling one.
There is always a lot of thought to his pictures - think Memento (2000), Insomnia (2002), The Prestige (2006) and of course Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008), which is quite possibly among the five greatest motion pictures ever (in this writer's humble opinion).
The top of that list is 2001: A Space Odyssey, which deals with the discovery of three alien monoliths, one of which gave the old human race a little nudge along in its evolution.
It is the most intriguing concept I've ever come across - and, just quietly, wouldn't rule something like that happening for real many moons ago.
Judging by the title and the movie's brief description, I'm hoping Inception could be a story along similar lines.
Sort of a cross between The Da Vinci Code (the book) and 2001 in which the inception literally concerns the point when we humans we 'tampered' with, as part of some extra-terrestrial genetic engineering. It would tie in with the whole "architecture of the mind" thing.
But, I really have no idea, I'm just hoping.
One thing is for sure, the movie is in safe hands and should be another triumph for a director proving to be the main man of his generation.
Batman can wait.
