MOVIE NEWS
It's enough to make the eyes jump out of their sockets. Believe it or not, there's to be a Believe It Or Not! movie - starring Jim Carrey ... believe it or not.
Variety is reporting the 46-year-old actor will play Robert Ripley, the investigative reporter whose newspaper column gained international fame, and is still well-known today through several incarnations of the TV show and countless books.
The film, to be filmed early next year and released in 2010, is to be directed by Chris Columbus after Tim Burton dropped out.
Spike Jonze had also been linked to the movie, but it seems he still has enough on his plate trying to get Where the Wild Things Are finished.
Not sure about Columbus at the helm - Burton would have been preferred - but the movie could obviously be a bit of fun with all the oddballs the character Ripley used to come across.
Carrey also could do with a hit after the relative failure of The Number 23 (2007) and before that Fun with Dick and Jane (2005). There's only been the animated Horton Hears A Who (20o8) since.
Johnny Depp was also linked to the film, but what film isn't these days, especially when that film has Burton set to direct like this one was.
